November 17th, 2024 — In the heart of NanTou Town, a small yet industrious area in Zhongshan City, we at Homa hosted the welding and inspection competition. This event highlighted the essential roles of welding and inspection in refrigerator production, while also celebrating the exceptional skills of our talented workers.
The day kicked off at 8:30 AM with a vibrant opening ceremony, setting the tone for the competitions ahead. Once the ceremony wrapped up, the welding and inspection contests got underway. In the welding area, competitors, fully equipped in safety gear, were laser-focused on their work. They expertly handled gas welding torches, creating a dazzling display of sparks and light as they fused metal pieces with remarkable precision. The air was filled with the hiss of torches and the distinct scent of heated metal.
Meanwhile, in the inspection area, participants carefully examined refrigerator units, their eyes sharp and their hands steady. Armed with tools like magnifying glasses, they searched for even the smallest imperfections, their faces reflecting deep concentration and precision.
Yet judges were on hand throughout, closely monitoring every move to ensure the competition remained fair and upheld the highest standards.
The day wrapped up with a celebratory awards ceremony, where the top performers were recognized for their outstanding contributions to Homa's commitment to excellence.
The Welding and Quality Inspection Competitions: A Crucial Part of the Production Process
The competition, which includes 4 kinds of welding, was first launched in 2012. Welding is a critical step in refrigerator manufacturing, primarily involving components like compressors and condenser tubes that directly impact cooling performance. At the same time, it is a highly technical and dangerous process, posing potential risks of physical injury. To enhance welding techniques, the labour union and Homa decided to initiate this competition.
In 2013, a quality inspection segment was added to the competition. This is also an important step in refrigerator production, directly tied to product quality and repair rates, serving as the final line of defence before packaging and shipping. Since then, this competition format has been maintained to the present day.

The champion of all-round welding, He Weige, who comes from Factory #1, has been with Homa for three years and won his FIRST PRIZE thanks to his outstanding skills. "Welding is an art that requires precision and patience," he said. "This competition not only tests our skills but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement."And he can't wait to raise a party with his co-workers after the award ceremony.
