近些年來,湄公河水污染問題非常嚴重。
為改善這一狀況,韓國著名財團韓華集團于2019年6月5日(世界環境日),在越南永隆(Vinh Long)舉辦了“清理湄公河”運動,并捐贈了兩艘價值25億越盾的太陽能船。
這兩艘太陽能船可通過傳送帶快速打撈起漂浮在湄公河水面的垃圾,避免它們流入海洋造成更嚴重的危害。并且,該船安裝了太陽能電池板,運作時不會排放有害物質造成二次污染,同時聲音小,清理過程中不會驚擾到周邊的野生動物。
除此以外,韓華集團還組織了一大批大學生志愿者,沿河撿拾垃圾。
這項活動是在全球綠色增長研究所(GGGI)的支持下進行的,旨在支持聯合國可持續發展目標,為應對氣候變化以及一系列環境問題做貢獻。同時,它也影響了當地居民,為保護湄公河付出行動。
